  • Edelweiss added a reply in discussion Xen hypervisor ...
Ali, please read http://wiki.xenproject.org/wiki/Xen_Overview, which should answer all your questions. Dom0 is a special VM, which runs the Linux kernel (or a BSD kernel). See http://wiki.xenproject.org/wiki/Dom0 - It's main purpose is to expose hardware drivers to the other VMs in the system. Because of Dom0, the Hypervisor does not need a ...

  • Edelweiss added a reply in discussion HA using Remus...
[code type="xml"]Do you know why is not included? So, if I would like to test Remus, I'll always need to get the development version of Xen hypervisor, right?[/code] In the case of XenServer & XCP which was a subset of XenServer, the reason that Remus is not supported is that a) XenServer has its own implementation of HA b) And also, it use...

  • Edelweiss added a reply in discussion HA using Remus...
Tiago, it is not at all dead. We just added a new maintainer and I believe that Intel and Fujitsu are planning to upstream COLO which builds on top of Remus (this should be listed in the next 4.5 Dev Update), although it may not fully make it for 4.5....

  • Ethan, if you read the blog post, that explains what you see and also answer your question where the memory goes. I am not quite sure what you mean by your observation #1 and #2. You may want to look at http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Xentop(1) with your experiments....

  • You may want to take this to the user list by sending a mail to xen-users@lists.xenproject.org: I do darkly remember that there was some discussion related to something similar or exactly this issue on the list and that it was either fixed xen 4.4 or that there is a work-around. The guys who will know are very active on xen-users@lists.xenp...

  • To answer your first question: the reason why you ran out of memory is that you did not take Dom0 into account. Xen always has a Dom0 on each host, and Xen also will need a little RAM besides your DomU's. See http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Xen_Overview#Introduction_to_Xen_Project_Architecture > Does that means the number of running VMs is limited...

  • Sam, seems no-one has come across such an issue. So I would recommend posting a possible bug on xen-devel@lists.xenproject.org taking the links I posted earlier into account. The more info you can provide, the better (such as dmesg output, etc.)....

  • The tested VGA Adapter page is most likely incomplete. There is usually quite a lot of discussion on PCI /VGA passthrough on the xen-users list, but people tend to not keep the wiki page up-to-date. You may want to do a quick search on "tesla" and "firepro" via http://xen.markmail.org/ to see whether anything comes up. There were quite a few recent...

  • It's possible that this is a bug. I can't remember any intermittent TCP bugs recently, but then you are using an older Xen version. So I will ping the devs on IRC tomorrow to see whether anything rings a bell. In the meantime http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Reporting_Bugs_against_Xen may help. As you are using 4.1, http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Debuggin...

  • You need to do this with xl save -c ubuntu-hvm CheckpointFile /etc/xen/ubuntu-hvm.cfg and xl restore -e ubuntu-hvm /etc/xen/ubuntu-hvm.cfg CheckpointFile as http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/raring/en/man1/xl.1.html states. The save command you used has nothing to do with Xen....

  • Thanos, have you tried "xl save [OPTIONS] domain-id CheckpointFile [ConfigFile]" and "xl restore [OPTIONS] [ConfigFile] CheckpointFile"? The xl manual pages say that save and restore are subcommands of xl. If you tried just save / restore you would have actually executed different commands: http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/raring/...

  • Vijay, I am pretty sure that the questions have already been answered in the other threads. 1. Currently which all SOC's supports XEN.Please provide me the Vendor list. This list is on the wiki 2. Please provide me the source code Links for the same. ARM support is in the main repository at: http://wiki.xenproject.org/wiki/Xen_Pro...

  • we plan to use Xen Hypervisor on Cortex A15 series for our Design. Cool So did Xen ported ARM hypervisor for Ti-OMAP5 which is a Cortex A15? Patches for OMAP5 made it into Xen 4.4, were tested and were called out in the press release. See http://xenproject.org/about/in-the-news/163-xen-project-announces-the-4-4-release.html ... • there is a whole section on booting on the Xen Project wiki. See http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Xen_ARM_with_Virtualization_Extensions#Booting_Xen There are also specific sections for each hardware on booting, e.g. http://wiki.xen.org/wiki/Xen_ARM_with_Virtualization_Extensions/Allwinner#Booting_Xen_and_Dom0...

  • Can you clarify a little: When you say that perf went down "after installing paravirt" you don't give any performance figures for windows with PV drivers. I am also confused what the figure "installing PV ubuntu" means. Also, which windows PV drivers have you used? Citrix, GPLPV, Novell / Suse?. Not sure if Ubuntu PV means PV o...
