I am trying to share virtual disk between two VM but Xencenter does not allow me to do so. Is this a constraint and Xen does not support it or is there a way to achieve this.

Also can we integrate qemu with Vmxnet3 support with Xen? Is vmxnet3 supported in Xen.

Thanks,
Sanjay

    Sanjay,

From your reference to XenCenter, I gather you are running XenServer, correct? If so, I suggest trying the support channels outlined over at XenServer.org. XenServer is (as of a year ago) an open source distribution of Xen Project software with some additions (like XenCenter).

To the best of my knowledge, vmxnet3 is not available in the current release of Xen Project (at least I can find no docs which explain how to use it, if it is supported). But I know that there work going on to eventually permit VMDKs to be used under Xen Project (in 4.5, perhaps?). I don't know if the network devices will be supported as well. For that, you might need to inquire on the xen-devel mailing list. Once it gets into Xen Project, then you will have to ask the XenServer team for a timeline for inclusion in the XenServer project.

Thanks Russ. Can you please throw some light on sharing a virtual disk across multiple VM, is this supported on open source Xen(Xen project).
