I am using Xen 4.1.4 on Debian Jessie. I tried to use a Bluray/ DVD writer (SATA) in my DomU Guests (Debian, Kernel 3.10-2-amd64).
The Writer is recognized by the host as device /dev/sr0.
It is assignable to a DomU by:
xm block-attach [DomU-Name] phy:/dev/sr0 xvdb:cdrom r
This is ONLY possible with a loaded medium in the device. The device ist is listed as /dev/xvdb in DomU.
Assigning it with
xm block-attach [DomU] phy:/dev/sr0 xvdb:cdrom w
works without reporting an error in the Dom0, but the device is not listed in DomU as /dev/xvdb and so it is not usable in DomU.
Can anyone help me to use the SATA writer in my DomU's?
Thanks in advance for your support.

thanks for the hint. But I already used that page for idea's, like several others. I used the way which is described there or did I missed something?
I am wondering, that I am only able to attach a device with a medium. It seems like assigning a media and not a device.
Assigning the writer for writing doesn't work at all, then the device isn't visible in DomU.
